Things to Look for When Finding a Church

1. Biblical Teaching and Doctrinal Clarity:
A church that faithfully teaches the whole counsel of God’s Word with clarity, conviction, and compassion. It should also hold to a clear and biblically sound statement of faith that aligns with your convictions.

2. Generational Diversity and Community:
A church that includes and actively connects all generations—children, youth, young adults, parents, and seniors—into the life of the church. Each age group should find community, care, and opportunities to grow and serve.

3. Approachable and Friendly Leadership:
Pastors and ministry leaders who are accessible, humble, and genuinely care for people. A friendly atmosphere begins with leadership that models Christlike love and hospitality.

4. Opportunities for Relationships and Service:
A place where you can build meaningful relationships, find spiritual support, and actively serve using your gifts and passions.

5. Missional and Community Engagement:
A church that is outward-facing and actively engaged in local outreach, national ministry, and international missions. It should also be involved in meeting the needs of the surrounding community with compassion and justice—living out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.

6. A Church That Notices When You're Missing:
A community where people know your name, care about your presence, and reach out when you're absent. Being missed is a sign of being loved.

7. Welcoming and Navigable Facilities:
A church building that is clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate. Clear signage, accessible entrances, and a warm, inviting atmosphere help people feel at home.

8. Authentic Worship:
Worship that is Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and engages both heart and mind.

9. Spiritual Growth Pathways:
Clear opportunities for discipleship, Bible study, mentoring, and spiritual formation for all ages.

10. Prayer Culture:
A church that prioritizes prayer—corporately and individually—as a vital part of its life and ministry.

11. Healthy Church Governance:
Transparent leadership, wise stewardship of resources, and accountability structures that reflect integrity.

12. Welcoming and Friendly Atmosphere:
A spirit of hospitality where newcomers feel seen, valued, and invited into the life of the church. Friendliness should be felt from the parking lot to the pew.
